I have to say that if you ever get the chance to sit in on the Break Into Fiction Workshops with Mary Buckham and Dianna Love. DO IT!!! :D
Writers are learners. It's that simple. A writer learns with every book, and seeks out better ways to make their writing better. Writers learn something new everyday they sit down to write. That is what keeps us writing. We love to learn.
In this workshop, I did just that. I learned and I loved every moment of it. I actually had to leave a little early and let me tell you I really didn't want to. LOL. But my five-year-old wouldn't have liked it if Mommy hadn't been at her football game to watch her cheer. Which she did GREAT!
I walked away knowing that I have lots of work ahead of me for the book I'm currently working on. I knew going to the workshop today that I needed more conflict. Now, I have another way to add to my characters and build them into what I want them to be. I took notes and did the exercises during the workshops and I bought the book (can't wait to dig in). I'm ready to go this week for working on my book.
Was it hard? Heck Yeah! But tell me one thing in life that isn't hard. If we want something then we work through the hard times and make it happen. No one is going to do it for us. WE have to do it. That is what this workshop is all about. Making you think about your characters and your plot and your conflict. Then asking that hated questions, Why?
I walked away wanting to get home and talk to my hubby about the class. Though we haven't gotten to really talk yet, he knows I had a great time. I'm forever thankful that I have such a wonderful man to tend to the kids while I go to workshops, meetings, conferences, and spend lots of time on the computer.
All-in-all today was a wonderful, funfilled learning adventure that only a writer can enjoy! Thanks Mary and Dianna for a wonderful day!!
